PORTALES, NM – The Eastern New Mexico women’s soccer team was handed a close 1-0 loss by Texas Woman’s University on Wednesday afternoon to open Lone Star Conference play.
The Pioneers dominated play in the first half with an 11-1 shot advantage. Rayne Islas took advantage of a long cross from Kalista Miller just over 17 minutes into the half to put Texas Woman’s up 1-0.
ENMU saw several good offensive pushes in the second half but was kept scoreless as TWU picked up the 1-0 victory.
NOTABLE STATS
- The Pioneers held a 16-4 shot advantage and also led in shots on goal, 9-1.
- Tori Galindo paced the offense in shots (2) and shots on goal (1).
- Whitney Dockweiler finished the game with eight saves in net for the Hounds.
- For TWU, Alexandra Jacinto made one save to earn the shutout in goal.
