SNYDER, Texas – The Eastern New Mexico men’s and women’s rodeo teams competed at the Western Texas College Rodeo this weekend.

The women’s team earned 335 points to secure the overall team win. Weatherford College finished second with 183.3 points, while South Plains College earned third place with 165 points. This is the fourth time the Eastern women’s team has won the West Texas College Rodeo as they also picked up wins in 2010, 2014, and 2015.

Madelyn Schauer split second and third in the first go of the goat tying with a time of 7.1 seconds. She then split first in the short go with a time of 7.4 seconds and split first in the average as well.

Shacie Marr won the barrel race in both goes and the average. She had a time of 17.79 seconds in the first go and 17.70 seconds in the short go.

On the men’s side, Trey Jackson competed in steer wrestling. He was second in the first go with a time of 4.0 seconds, fifth in the short go with a time of 5.6 seconds, and fourth in the average after earning a total of 100 points. Jackson is currently first in the region in steer wrestling, just ahead of Walt Arnold from Tarleton State.

The rodeo teams finish out the spring season at the Tarleton State Rodeo in Stephenville, Texas on April 22-24.
