SNYDER, Texas – Shacie Marr’s 20 points in barrel racing helped Eastern New Mexico women’s rodeo finished in eleventh at the Western Texas College rodeo.

The junior posted the fifth fastest time in the long round with a 13.97 seconds run. She missed the quickest race by 0.37 seconds.

Marr dropped a barrel in the short go to finish eighth overall in the event and racked up all her points from her first run.

The Tularosa, New Mexico native also posted great times in breakaway roping (2.3 seconds) and goat tying (7.3 seconds). The qualifying times to make it to the main event Saturday night was 2.1 seconds in breakaway and 7.2 seconds in goat tying.

Greeley Eastep made a strong first run in the goat tying to earn a spot in the short round. Her two times during the rodeo were 7.2 seconds (long) and 7.5 seconds (short). She was 0.5 seconds (total) from earning points for the scoring team over the weekend.

Two men were tenths of a second away from qualifying for the short round in steer wrestling as Beau Dean (11th) posted a 6.3 seconds time and Reese Polk (13th) finished in 7.3 seconds.

The team will take off this week to practice and get set for the next rodeo hosted by Howard County Junior College April 13-15.
