The Eastern New Mexico women’s basketball team will be taking on its second of three NCAA Division I opponents today at 2 p.m. as the Hounds travel to Albuquerque to take on New Mexico in exhibition play.
The Lobos are the second of three Division I teams the Hounds are facing in their exhibition schedule, as the Greyhounds are coming off a tough 88-31 loss at Arizona on Oct. 29.
Head Coach Josh Prock will be looking for a stronger offensive performance from his squad in this matchup as the Hounds struggled offensively in their opener, shooting just 20-percent from the floor, 16-percent from three, and committed 22 turnovers in their exhibition opener against the Wildcats.
One bright spot for ENMU against Arizona was the play of sophomore guard Chelsea Hunter. In her first game with ENMU, she led the team with seven points on 3-of-7 shooting from the field.
Senior guard Dasia Johnson pitched in five points for Eastern on 2-of-4 from the field while the freshman from Portales, Zamorye Cox added five points in her first game with the Greyhounds as well.
The last time the Hounds and Lobos met was on Nov. 1, 2017 at Dreamstyle Arena, as ENMU challenged New Mexico in an 80-66 loss in exhibition play.
The Hounds will have one more exhibition opposition at Colorado State on Tuesday before opening the regular season on Friday as the Hounds host the Lone Star/RMAC Challenge, opening the tournament at 6:30 p.m. against New Mexico Highlands.
