The Eastern New Mexico women’s basketball team is preparing for its final exhibition game before the start of the regular season as the Hounds will travel to Fort Collins, Colo. to take on Colorado State at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Greyhounds are facing their third consecutive NCAA Division I opponent in exhibition play, as Eastern dropped an 88-31 decision at Arizona on Oct. 29 and fell to New Mexico 91-43 on Sunday.
In their last game against the Lobos, junior guard Tilasha Okey led all Greyhounds scorers with eight points, including a pair of three-pointers while senior guard Dasia Johnson added seven on 2-of-5 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 from the charity stripe.
Senior post Shelby Jones led the rebounding efforts with seven boards while junior guard Sydney Clark and sophomore guard Jena Mehlbrech led the passing efforts with two assists apiece.
Colorado State will provide another tough challenge for ENMU, as the Rams were selected sixth in the Mountain West preseason poll and are coming off a 77-55 exhibition win against South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and a 73-60 victory over Colorado Christian.
The exhibition match against the Rams will be the Hounds final dress rehearsal before opening the regular season with their host tournament, the Lone Star/RMAC Conference Challenge on Nov. 10-11 at Greyhound Arena. The Hounds will open the tournament with New Mexico Highlands at 6:30 p.m on Friday before taking on Fort Lewis at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
