PORTALES, N.M. – Women’s basketball Head Coach Meghan De los Reyes announced the addition of three new members ahead of the Greyhound’s 2021-22 season.

De los Reyes welcomes point guard Bella Stone, wing/forward Hanna Lussbaumer, and wing Iyanna McCurdy. Stone and Lussbaumer are first-year students, while McCurdy is a graduate transfer.

“I am thrilled to announce the addition of three incredible student-athletes to our women’s basketball program,” said De los Reyes, “All three of these newcomers are not only great players who will impact our team, but high character individuals who will make a positive influence in our school and community as well.”

Stone, a Medford, Ore. native, comes to Eastern New Mexico off the back of a 6A Oregon State Championship at South Medford High School. At South Medford, Stone earned second team all-conference recognition while being the starting point guard and leading her team with 3.5 assists per game.

“Bella is a true point guard who makes everyone around her better. She has an incredibly high IQ, excellent court vision, and the ability to distribute the ball with precision and consistency,” said De los Reyes.

Lussbaumer comes to Portales from nearby Clovis High School in Clovis, N.M. Lussbaumer was a standout at Clovis, averaging 12.8 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game. Lussbaumer earned 1stteam all-district as a junior and senior, while being named Team MVP, Offensive Player, Rebounder, and Free Throw awards at Clovis.

“Hanna is a hard-working and driven local product with tremendous versatility,” said De los Reyes, “She will really complement the players we have on our roster and her unmatched persistence and desire to succeed will be a positive for our program on and off the court.”

McCurdy joins Eastern New Mexico after three seasons at Division I Southeast Missouri State University. The Philadelphia, Pa. native started 15 games for the Redhawks in the 2017-18 season averaging 20.7 minutes, 5.5 points, and 3.6 rebounds per game. McCurdy helped Southeast Missouri to an Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) championship in 2020. Prior to Southeast Missouri, McCurdy won two league championships at Friends’ Central High School in Philadelphia, Pa.

“Iyanna is an elite athlete who is lightning quick and can jump out of the gym,” said De los Reyes, “Her defensive prowess and rebounding ability from the wing will lift our team immediately. Offensively, with her mentality attacking the basket and running the floor, she will undoubtedly flourish in our program.”

The Eastern New Mexico women’s basketball team returns to the court after missing the 2020-21 season due to COVID-19 restrictions. In 2019-20, the Hounds went 22-9 overall and 14-8 in LSC play. Eastern earned a place in the 2020 NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball tournament before its cancellation due to COVID-19. De los Reyes looks to build off of the programs recent success as she leads the program for the first time this season.
