Obituary

A funeral service for Wink Coats, 78, of Shallowater will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 11,2021, at the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Mitch Wilson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Jay Coats, James Coats, Eric Coats, Jason Coats, Xander Coats, Skylar Coats and Trent Bartlett serving as pallbearers.

Wink Coats was born on November 2, 1943, in Portales, New Mexico to the home of Archola Mae (Trussell) and Ottis Lee Coats, and died on December 7, 2021, in Lubbock, Texas.    He was married to Deborah Ann (Dever) Coats for 52 years.  They attended church at The Message.  Wink worked as a truck driver all of his life including 23 years with Walmart.  He retired in February 2019 and enjoyed to travel.

He is survived by his wife Debbie Coats; his sons, Trace Coats & wife Kelli and Matt Coats & wife Jackie; four grandchildren, Eric Coats, Jason Coats, Xander Coats and Skylar Coats; four great grandchildren, Carsyn Coats, Kai Coats, Kameron Coats and Trystin Coats; his brother, J.L. Coats, and two nephews, Jay Coats and James Coats.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Bradley Lynn Coats and a granddaughter, Loran Ashley Coats.
