Presenting a lot of information in a succinct manner was no problem for Rachel Whitt while she served in multiple roles with KENW-TV from 2009-11. The 2013 graduate of Eastern New Mexico University will utilize those skills to use next month, when she returns to serve as presenter at the ENMU Athletics Hall of Honor ceremony on September 23.

Whitt will pair with emcee Dr. Don Elder to provide what should be a stirring event. Elder will reprise his familiar role at the event, while Whitt will expound on the achievements of the five inductees. A native of nearby Albuquerque, Whitt beings a wealth of experience to the position.  She graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with dual degrees in political science and communications with an emphasis in broadcast journalism. White at ENMU, she worked as a director, technical director, and anchor at KENW-TV from 2009 to 2011 while studying for her degrees. Simultaneously, she was a production and promotions assistant at Rooney Moon Broadcasting from 2010-13.

As a sophomore, she received an internship with the New Mexico Broadcasting Association and spent a semester working as a reporter on Capitol Hill for Talk Radio News. Rachel was highly involved in campus life while at Eastern, held several positions in ASENMU, and travelled to the legislature in Santa Fe on multiple occasions to be a student lobbyist for the university.

Following graduation, she was recruited and hired as a producer for KOAT-TV Channel 7, the ABC affiliate in Albuquerque, where she worked from 2013-16. She now is a communications specialist at the University of New Mexico, and is studying for her Master’s in Public Policy.

Rachel’s hobbies include hiking, skiing, camping, whitewater rafting, reading, coffee, and craft beer.

The 2017 induction class includes Larry Riley (men’s basketball), Gary Good (rodeo), Alex Mayo-Otis (softball), Anna Bellum (volleyball), and Samantha Lawrence-Ward (women’s soccer).
