Wanda Ruth Sherrod, known to everyone as Ruth, was born Jan. 14, 1932, in Floyd, NM to the home of Zura (Edie) and Odie Vickers, and died Nov. 13, 2017 in Clovis, NM. Ruth graduated from Portales High School in 1950, and married Robert Alan Sherrod at the First United Methodist Church in Portales on Mar. 11, 1951. They were in Portales on vacation when Mr. Sherrod became seriously ill, and passed away in Clovis. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church. Ruth loved to crochet, and through the years she had made countless baby blankets and items of infant clothing. She also produced adult clothing with her talent.

She is survived by two daughters, Alana Ruth Miller of Glenburnie, MD and Carol Sherrod of Portales; five grandchildren, Walt Miller, Jr., Jeffrey Thomas Miller, Joshua James Miller, Annette Kay Olson and John Alan Shoemake; four great-grandchildren, Fabian, Brodie and Ashlyn Olson and Zoey Elizabeth Miller; as well as several cousins, including Mildred Earlene Eubanks, Cody and Kristi Guss, Jeannie Robbins, Coleen Box and Gwen Edie all of Portales.
