PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico volleyball program recently finalized the schedule for the 2021 season which will feature nine home matches in Greyhound Arena.

“After sitting out the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re excited to finally be playing this fall. We have a lot of new faces on the team and not being able to play this past year while the rest of the conference did and not having our players on campus until the Spring semester has set us back a little. However, considering the limitations because of the state COVID-19 mandates, Greyhound volleyball still had a good spring. The Lone Star Conference (LSC) is one of the premiere conferences in NCAA DII volleyball, so we have to be at our best from beginning to end,” said head coach Sia Poyer.

The Greyhounds open the 2021 season with a scrimmage at the University of the Southwest on August 15.

On September 3-4, Eastern heads to the Dallas Baptist Tournament. The Hounds will face Arkansas Tech University and Dallas Baptist University on Sept. 3 followed by Westminster College and Wayne State College on Sept. 4.

Eastern will then travel to New Mexico Highlands for a contest on Sept. 7 before heading to Midwestern State University for a tournament held on Sept. 10-11. The Greyhounds will take on Newman University, Arkansas Tech, Colorado Mesa University, and Midwestern State throughout those two days.

Lone Star Conference play opens in mid-September when the Hounds visit Texas A&M-Commerce on the 17th and UT Tyler on the 18th.

The first home match of the season will be on Sept. 21 when New Mexico Highlands travels to Portales for a non-conference tilt.

Eastern welcomes in-state rival Western New Mexico to Greyhound Arena on Sept. 24 and UT Permian Basin on Sept. 25 before traveling to West Texas A&M for a matchup on Sept. 29.

During Homecoming Weekend, the Hounds plan on hosting an alumni match on October 1.

The Greyhounds will see eight other matches throughout the month of October. Eastern will be on the road at St. Edward’s (10/8), St. Mary’s (10/9), Cameron (10/22), and Midwestern State (10/23). The Hounds will be home in Greyhound arena for matches against the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith (10/15), Oklahoma Christian (10/16), Texas A&M International (10/29), and Texas A&M-Kingsville (10/30).

On November 5 and 6, Eastern heads to Lubbock Christian and Angelo State, before returning to Portales to finish out the regular season with matches against Dallas Baptist (11/12) and Texas Woman’s (11/13).
