BIG SPRING, TEXAS —Celie Vick’s third-place finish in the breakaway roping paced the Eastern New Mexico University women’s rodeo to a second-place finish at the Howard College Rodeo. Sage Bell led five ENMU athletes qualified for competition in the short round of the goat tying. Brandon Muniz reached the short go of the team roping for the men’s team.

Eastern earned 195 points at the event to tie with Cisco College for second place. Texas Tech won the rodeo with 310 points.

Vick improved to third in the short round of the breakaway roping to place third in the average after a sixth-place finish in the opening round. Molly Griffin tied for first in the opening round and split fifth and sixth in the average.

Bell was Eastern’s top finisher in the goat tying, and took fourth place in both the average and short go. Shannon Jackson earned a fifth-place finish in the short round and average. Kaci Kamm took sixth in the short go and won the opening round. Vick split second and third in the first go, while Emily Logan split seventh and eighth to open the event.
Muniz placed tenth in the first go of the team roping to reach the short go.

The Eastern New Mexico University rodeo teams will conclude the regular season this week, with the Tarleton State Rodeo.
