It’s has been confirmed that ALL New Mexico Public Schools will be closed until April 3, in precaution of COVID-19. Classes will resume on April 6th.

Governor Lujan-Grisham issued a statement stating, “We will be informing the public of additional measures that the state will be taking to ease the burden on families and educators and ensure that children conto us to be fed and cared for.” She will be making a public statement at 10 a.m. on Friday morning. Portales Schools Info

Portales Municipal Schools has issued a statement stating that all students are out of school beginning Monday, March 16. All PMS teachers, EAs, cafeteria and ancillary staff are NOT to report on Monday. However, all Central Office staff, Custodial staff, Principals, Directors, Administrative Assistants and Technology Staff are to report Monday, March 16 at regular time.

There will be a special board meeting on Monday to determine where how PMSD moves forward and how the closure will affect the district. Decisions about staffing over the 3 week period will be announced after the Monday Board Meeting.

As per the Public Education Dept. the three weeks of classes will be made up in June, so plan accordingly.


Elida Schools

Elida Municipal Schools will be following the instruction of the PED and all students and staff will be closed until April 6th.


Dora Schools

In accordance with the Governor and PED, Dora Consolidated Schools will be closed to students and staff for 3 weeks.


Floyd Schools

Floyd Schools will be closed to students and staff until April 6th. Upon that date, instruction will resume at regular time.


Clovis Schools

Clovis Municipal Schools will be closed per the decision made by the NM Public Education Department starting Monday, March 16. Instructional classes will resume on April 6th. The Superintendent, Renee Russ, will provide more information as it becomes available.

Students, teachers, EAs, ancillary staff and cafeteria staff are not to be on campuses until April 6. As of Thursday, March 12, Central Office staff and administrators are expected to report at their regular time.
