Eastern New Mexico baseball bring its current hot streak back to Portales for a weekend series with University of Arkansas-Fort Smith (UAFS). The Hounds will play the Lions in a four-game series beginning on Friday, Mar. 18, with a single nine-inning game. The series continues on Saturday, Mar. 19, with two seven inning games beginning at 2 pm, and the nine inning series finale is on Sunday, Mar. 20, with first pitch at 1 pm.

LAST TIME OUT 

• The Hounds went to Tyler, Texas and came away with three wins from the four-game series against the Patriots of UT Tyler. Eastern won the first three games of the series, 11-6, 5-3, and 5-1.
• Eastern brought the bats in game one, recording five runs in the first inning, four runs in the seventh inning, and two more runs in the ninth. Spencer Roach finished 3-4 on the day, with a two-run homerun, scoring three times and driving in three RBIs.
• In game two and three, the Hounds got great performances on the mound. Damian Acosta tossed five innings in the Hounds win in game two, while Ruger Bravo tossed a complete game with one run allowed in the win in game three.

LONE STAR CONFERENCE HONORS

• Roach was acknowledged for his contribution over the weekend. Roach was selected as the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week and NCBWA South Central Hitter of the Week after hitting .429, with an on-base percentage of .500, and tallied six hits over the series. Roach currently leads the Hounds in batting average (.348), slugging percentage (.591), hits (23), runs scored (19), home runs (3), and total bases (39) for the Greyhounds.

SCOUTING THE LIONS 

• Overall, UAFS come into the weekend holding a 7-13 record on the season with the same standing in LSC play. Recently, the Lions faced off against #3 West Texas A&M taking one game from the four-game series.
• The Lions bats post a batting average of .271 with 114 runs scored, 167 hits, and 103 RBI’s. UAFS pitching staff is allowing 8.72 earned runs per nine games. The Lions pitching has recorded 115 strikeouts and allowed 166 runs on the season.
• Kinner Brasher holds the best batting average on the teams with a .350 clip. Meanwhile, Hunter Church and Brooks Sunny lead the way with 22 and 20 hits, respectively. Brooks leads the team in RBIs and Church gets on base the most, with a .459 on base percentage.
• Lukas Petross leads the team with two wins on the season, while five other pitchers have recorded one win this season. Braiden Partin has the lone save for the Lions with 5.00 ERA.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS 

• As a group, the Greyhounds have record of 8-12 with an LSC standing of 7-11. The Hounds have won two LSC series in a row and are 6-2 in its last eight games.
• Roach leads Eastern with a batting average of .348, while Cooper Hamilton is just behind with a .317 batting average. Roach leads the team in hits (23) with Camden Matthews just behind with 22 base hits. Nick Schifftner has brought in a team high 14 runs with Hamilton suppling 12 RBIs.
• William McBride holds a team low 0.73 ERA in five appearances with one win and one save. Acosta and Bravo each have two wins on the season, and Dalton Thatcher has on win with a 4.66 ERA.
