The Eastern New Mexico track & field programs are set to compete at the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend. The championship meet takes place over three days (May 6-7-8) at West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas.

Last weekend the Greyhounds competed at the Texas Tech Corky/Crofoot Shootout. Tamia Smith finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 41.02 meters (134-7) which was good for third in the Eastern record books. In the shot put, Smith earned fifth place with a 12.79-meter throw. That distance was good for third in the record books, and she now owns all of the top-five program marks. In the pole vault, Paige Graham had a 3.23-meter (10-7) performance, which was good for fourth in the program record books.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Jessica Campbell finished fifth with a time of 16.00 seconds which puts her second in the record book. Marta Pascoa earned third place in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 12:20.85. Her altitude adjusted time was 12:11.62 which puts her fifth in the program record books in the steeplechase. In the 5000m run, Mercy Rotich finished fourth with a time of 18:23.45. Her altitude adjusted time of 18:08.46 puts her fourth in program history.

In the LSC season performance list, Malethabo Seema currently has the fastest 800m run time. She registered an altitude-adjusted time of 2:15.32 at the Don Kirby Tailwind Open on April 22.

West Texas A&M will stream all track events on Friday and Saturday on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network.
