The Floyd Lady Broncos traveled back to Rio Rancho High School today, November 15, to face a tough opponent, #1 seed Melrose in the NMAA Class 1A State tournament. The first serve was at 3 pm, and Melrose proved their ranking quickly by winning the first set 25-11.
Floyd tried to rally in the 2nd set, but ultimately fell again 25-19 to the Lady Buffs. And the 3rd was a mirror of the first, with a score of 25-11 in Melrose’s favor.
The Lady Broncos were defeated, but they are now in a contenders bracket, which allows them the opportunity to be get back into the Final Four and still compete for the state title. If they advance, they will face teams like Logan, Tatum and evening Melrose again.
Floyd will play the winner of tonight’s game against Evangel Christian and Tatum at 8 am tomorrow morning for their chance at redemption. The winner of that match will advance, and the losing team will be out of the running for the state title. The Lady Broncos are now 17-6 this season, hoping to make it 18 wins tomorrow morning!
