Funeral services for Tommy Ray Bouldin, 69, of Portales, will be held at 2:00 PM, Wed., Dec. 28, 2016 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Wayne Kinman officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Butch Wilson, Terry Wilson, Clay Post, Jesse Post, Chris Miller and Tyrel Gonser serving as pallbearers. Rod Savage and Mike Morris along with all of his grandchildren and his many friends will serve as honorary pallbearers. Tommy Ray Bouldin was born June 27, 1947, in Portales to the home of Opal (Noland) and Trice Bouldin and died Dec. 24, 2016 at his home. Tommy grew up in Portales and graduated from Portales High School in 1965. At a very early age, he began working at the local livestock sale barn. He later worked in Clovis at Ranchers and Farmer’s Livestock Sales. In 1982, Tommy moved to Roswell, where he worked at the Roswell Livestock Auction for 18 months before returning to Portales to purchase the local sale barn. He operated Portales Livestock until 1998, when he sold it to pursue his true passion of breeding and raising race horses. Later he established Frontera Auquatread in El Paso to rehab injured race horses.

 
On Aug. 2, 1975 in Melrose, he was married to Donis Gonser. Tommy was a devoted husband, father and Papa. He received his greatest fulfillment and enjoyment from centering on his family, especially each of his grandchildren. He made it a point to attend all of their sporting events and programs, and lend his full support to whatever they were involved in.

 
Tommy is survived by Donis, his wife of more than 41 years of their home; a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Laura Bouldin of Portales; a daughter and son-in-law, Lacey and Chris Miller of Portales; eight grandchildren, Rowdi Jarvison, Bennett Bouldin, Shaun Miller, Lauren Bouldin, Lexie Miller, Kinsey Bilberry, and Kaylee and Tanner Barron; a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Barron; two brothers, Jimmy Bouldin of Lubbock and Donnie Bouldin of Dora; two sisters, Virginia Gore of Clovis and Melba Brown of Elwood, NE; and four sisters-in-law, Charlene (Mrs. Pete) Bouldin of Portales, Karen Gonser of Clovis, Devra Tibbets of Jal, NM and Doris Bolton of Clovis. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Pete Bouldin, a sister, Pat Bouldin and by a son, Randy Bouldin who died Nov. 24, 2013.
