Funeral services for Tomasa Baltazar Sigala (lovingly known as Mama Tomy), 86, of Portales, will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at the Southside Church of Christ with Pastor Kelly Fulfer and Pastor Luz Elda Olivas officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with grandsons Fabio Baeza, Auden Baeza, Urbano Baeza, Hector Sigala, Gabriel Sigala, Elias Sigala, Adrian Sigala, Senovio Chavez, Joe Manuel Sigala, David Gurwell, A.J. Iturralde, Christopher Esparsen, Jonathan Esparsen, Anthony Ontiveros, Julio Viscaino, and Santos Chavez serving as pallbearers. All those who knew and loved Mama Tomy will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Tomasa Baltazar Sigala was born on March 7, 1933 in San Antonio del Bravo, Chihuahua, Mexico to parents Lorenza (Hernandez) and Daniel Baltazar. She transitioned Home peacefully on the morning of March 22, 2019 with her children by her side. Along with her late husband, Elias Sigala, she and her family came to Portales in 1969 where she lived most of her life. Mama Tomy’s Christian faith was first and foremost the most important aspect of her life. Always placing God first, she worked tirelessly raising her family; always emphasizing the importance of strong moral values and family unity. Mama Tomy was known for her traditional Mexican cooking skills, especially her red enchiladas and “chilito verde con carne”. Everyone was always welcomed to her home to enjoy a meal or just stop by for an early morning cup of “cafecito”. She enjoyed spending time with her family; the continuous weekend “family reunions”. Mama Tomy will forever hold a special place in the hearts of each and every one of her children, grandchildren, extended family members, and all those she loved as family alike.
She is survived by three sons, Jose Manuel Sigala of San Antonio del Bravo, Chihuahua, Mexico; Elias (Maria) Sigala of Clovis, NM; Ramon (Olga) Sigala of Monahans, TX; six daughters Lidia(Manuel) Salazar of Portales, NM; Arcelia (Urbano) Baeza of Midland, TX; Maria Elena (Roger) Chavez of Portales, NM; Tomasa (Ronald) Fonseca of Portales, NM; Elvira (Aldo) Iturralde of Portales NM; and Ynelda (Carmen) Garcia of Snyder, TX.; 30 grandchildren; 62 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; two brothers Martin (Eulalia) Baltazar of Portales, NM, Epigmenio Baltazar of San Antonio del Bravo, Chihuahua, Mexico, and Juana Tarango of Pecos, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elias Sigala, a daughter, Blanca Valdez of Portales, NM, a son-in-law, Urbano Baeza of San Antonio del Bravo, and several brothers and sisters.
So Sorry for your loss! Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and let the Peputial Light shine upon her. May the Souls of the faithful departed through the Mercy of God rest in peace. Peace and Solace to all the family! Amen
