3/4/2020 | Women’s Basketball RICHARDSON, TEXAS – Three Eastern New Mexico women’s basketball players were named to the All-Lone Star Conference teams as announced by league officials at the annual championship banquet in Frisco, Texas on Wednesday night.

Senior Natalie DeLonge, sophomore Zamorye Coxand junior Alivia Lewis were all named Second Team All-Lone Star Conference performers for their efforts this season, while Lewis was also named to the All-Lone Star Conference Defensive Team. Eastern New Mexico earned the no. 5 seed in the LSC Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament after finishing the regular season 20-8 overall and 14-8 in conference play and are currently ranked

ninth in the South Central Region.

Lubbock Christian’s Maddi Chitsey was named the Player of the Year for the conference while Texas A&M-Commerce’s Jason Burton was tabbed as the Coach of the Year. Eastern New Mexico joined Lubbock Christian and West Texas A&M as the only teams to have three players named to either the First or Second Team lists.

Lewis was named an all-conference performer for the second time in her career after earning All-LSC Honorable Mention honors last season. The Albuquerque, N.M. native averaged 10.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per contest while totaling seven double-doubles on the year, the fourth most in the Lone Star Conference.

Her appointment to the All-LSC Defensive Team marks the second year in a row that a member of the Eastern New Mexico women’s basketball program has been named to the list after Treyanna Clay was selected last season. Lewis ranked second in the Lone Star Conference this season with an average of 8.5 rebounds per contest and also blocked 35 shots on the year.

Cox led the Greyhounds in scoring and assists with an average of 12.4 points and 4.6 assists per contest. The Portales, N.M. native led the LSC in steals on the year with 73, the second most recorded in a single season in Eastern New Mexico women’s basketball history.

She ranked second in the LSC in assists per contest and also had the fifth best assist/turnover ratio in the league at 1.6. Her best game came in the Hounds upset win over previously no. 1 nationally-ranked Lubbock Christian in which she totaled a career-high 29 points.

DeLonge continued to elevate her play all season long for Eastern New Mexico and closed out the regular season with her best stretch of basketball as she totaled six straight games of 10-or-more points to close out the regular season. She averaged 12.0 points per game for the year and scored 20-or-more points on three different occasions.

She also contributed to the best rebounding squad in the LSC with an average of 6.0 rebounds per contest and recorded 10 or more rebounds on three different occasions. The Klamath Falls, Ore. Native had her best outing of the year against no. 3 Texas A&M-Commerce on Feb. 20 with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Eastern New Mexico advanced to the quarterfinals of the LSC Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament with a 70-52 win over Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday night. The Hounds will take on Tarleton State tomorrow night at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. Tip-off for that contest is set for 8:30 p.m. central standard time.
