RICHARDSON, TEXAS – The Eastern New Mexico track and field program saw three student-athletes land on the 2022 LSC Outdoor Track & Field All-Conference teams, as announced by the conference office on Friday afternoon. Aminata Kenyawaniplaced on the All-LSC Second Team after their efforts in the 5,000 meters and a third-place finish in the 10,000 meters. Malethabo Seema took home third in the 800 meters to land on the All-LSC Third Team. Kelvin Kipkemboi scored points in both the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters, to earn a spot on the All-LSC Third Team.
Kenyawani secured nine points in team scoring for the Greyhound, earning a place on the All-Conference Second Team. Kenyawani started the weekend with a 3rd place finish in the 10,000 meters, with a time of 39:44.87. This performance was followed by a 6th place finish 5,000 meters on the final day of competition, crossing the line in a time of 18:53.80, and scoring three points towards team scoring.
Seema landed on the All-Conference Third Team after winning the bronze medal in the 800 meters, and scoring six points towards team scoring. Seema crossed the line in a time of 2:16.47, and has been on the podium in the last three conference championships for the 800 meters.
Although not making the podium over the weekend, Kipkemboi performance’s in the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters secured a place on the All-Conference Third Team. In the 10,000, Kipkemboi crossed the line in 7th place with a time of 33:27.62 to earn two points towards team scoring. Two days later, Kipkemboi took home 5th place in the 5,000 meters and earned four points in team scoring. The time of 15:40.88 was enough to secure 5th in a very competitive field, where the top eight runners were separated by just 14 seconds.
