Over the final 32 seconds of Thursday night’s Lone Star Conference contest, the Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball team (7-8; LSC 2-4) had two offensive rebounds made two free throws and called two timeouts. Senior guard Lamarquis Thompson hit a go-ahead layup with nine seconds left to give the Hounds the lead for good in a 70-67 victory over Cameron (5-11; LSC 1-6) at Aggie Gym.

“Road wins in the Lone star conference are always battles,” Head Coach Tres Segler said. “Cameron played a great game, and I thought it was an awesome college basketball game. I could not be more proud of my team for their unflinching belief in our mission. Lamarquis Thompson’s huge game winning layup was as good a play as I’ve seen this season. However, it was our team’s support of him in the timeout before that was truly special. Seeing our guys encourage Lamarquis like that shows how much they support and love each other.”

“Arcaim Lallemand played as tough a game as he ever has a Greyhound,” Segler added. “He has a huge heart, and I am proud of how he has pushed himself to get better each day. As a unit our defense was very tough tonight, and I felt like Zach Parker and Maurice Coleman really stepped up to win their matchup. Andre Hughes and Shawn Shelton stepped up as rebounders and they impacted the game in a huge way. Andre has an incredible ability to pass, and he found several shooters as a ball mover that turned the momentum. I’m proud of our growth, and I think this is a great win for Greyhound Nation.”

Inside the Series
The win moved ENMU to 21-25 in the series with Cameron and 9-15 in road games against the Aggies
The win gave the Hounds their first win streak in the series since victories in the 2006 and 2008 seasons
The win also gave Eastern consecutive road wins over Cameron for the first time since the first two road games in the series (1948 and 1970)

The Key Runs
After Cameron trimmed a five-point Greyhound lead to just one in the first half, a Jamani Pierce trey ignited a 12-2 ENMU run
The run was book ended by a trey from Thompson with 7:30 left in the opening half for a 21-10 lead
The Aggies trimmed the ENMU lead to three, but Maurice Coleman scored the final five points of the half to send the Hounds to the locker room with a 31-23 advantage
Cameron opened the second half with a 14-5 run and took a 37-36 lead on a Chris Royal layup with 15:08 left
Eastern took the largest lead from that point on, 52-47 , when Nick Brown drained a trey with 9:23 left
After four tie scores, CU managed to take the lead again(62-60) on a Tyus Momoh layup with 2:57 left
After the game was tied two more times Cameron’s Johann Tate hit the Aggies second three-point bucket of the game for a 67-64 lead with 42 seconds left
After ENMU grabbed two offensive rebounds off three-point shots, Arcaim Lallemand pulled down drew a foul and hit two free throws to pull the Hounds within a single point with 22 seconds left
After an ENMU timeout, Lallemand pulled down a rebound from a missed CU free throw
One Greyhound timeout later, Thompson hit a go-ahead layup to propel Eastern to victory

In the Numbers
The Hounds converted their rebound advantage into a 16-8 lead in second chance points
Cameron led 14-9 on points off turnovers
Lallemand registered his first double double of the season with 20 points (career high), 11 rebounds and two blocked shots
