2020 has been a year full of lows, but in the midst of the pandemic that has changed our lives, the youth from Central Christian Church showed up to bring some joy to the community.
The annual “We Love Portales” event could not be hindered by the current climate of our state. Over 30 youth and adult volunteers showed up to Rotary Park on July 29 to update and bring some brightness back to the area.
The volunteers painted railings, and buildings, as well as covering over graffiti to make the park look beautiful again!
Project supervisor, Rotarian Pastor and Senior Pastor at Central Christian Church, Don Thomas was very pleased with the wonderful turnout of youth volunteers in the midst of a dire time.
In fact, the “We Love Portales” event couldn’t come at a better time for our community, because it offered some joy in the way of showing that the youth care about Portales just as much as the adults in our town.
When sports are allowed to be played again, Rotary Park will boast a beautiful Rams Red for the little league players, all thanks to the hard working teenagers who volunteered their time and energy. It’s just proof that regardless of the current situation our world may be in, our community can come together and shine some sunlight in the darkness!
