Chamber President Eldon Merrick announced Stephen Hardin would be assuming the duties of Executive Director at the Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce over the coming weeks.
Hardin, a native of Portales is married to Cassie Hardin, they have a 4-year-old son, Lucas. Stephen is the Development Director at New Mexico Christian Children’s Home. He has been with NMCCH since 1987.
Stephen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communications from Lubbock Christian University and a Master’s Degree in Mass Communications from Eastern New Mexico University.
“Stephen and Cassie are local members of this community and own a business on the square here in Portales, Oliver’s Emporium,” said Merrick. “We look forward to working with Stephen as this year begins. “We’re proud to have him lead our Chamber.”
Hardin will replace Karl Terry, who is retiring after 12 years.
“As cliché as it sounds, my goal has always been to help make the world a better place, whether by great means or small gestures,” said Hardin. “My career in education and in the non-profit sector are a testament to this.
“As a small business owner, we do this in many ways, one of which is by meeting the needs and wants of our customers in our community near and far.
“I have been community minded as far back as I can remember and have always wanted to make sure others were included. There is something about bringing people together, whether for a cause, event or even a meal.”
