The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office has requested the assistance of the NM State Police for an internal investigation. Sheriff Malin Parker contacted Capt. Matt Broom of the NM State Police on Saturday afternoon after one of his employees notified him of missing cash from the evidence room. After being notified, Sheriff Parker immediately called for his evidence techs, and case agent to conduct a full audit to determine if the cash was missing as a clerical error, being mis-placed, or malicious.
When they reported negative findings on all, Sheriff Parker contacted the outside agency and requested a full investigation. No further details will be provided as this is an ongoing investigation. Sheriff Parker stated that he hopes the NM State Police find that this is human error problem, but if found to be a malicious act, criminal charges would be filed.
