After the first week of football in the books, the rankings statewide have been updated. The area teams are in the mix of the top teams in each of their conferences coming into week 2 of the season.
Portales Rams are ranked 5th in class 4A. Trailing closely behind Lovington (1), Silver City (2), Ruidoso (3), and Aztec (4).
With a tough loss to Hope Christian after a lightning delay and overtime, the Rams need a win to change the season’s momentum.
St. Michael’s will be traveling to Greyhound Stadium this Friday to take on the Rams. Portales is set up to win the match since St. Michael’s comes into this game with no ranking in NMAA Class 4A.
