Following a week break, Eastern New Mexico softball returns to the field to face non-conference foe New Mexico Highlands University on Tuesday, Apr. 19, with start time scheduled for 1 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT

Last time out, the Greyhounds picked up three wins over a four-game weekend. First, Eastern beat Texas Woman’s in a sweep, winning 4-3 and 4-2 over the Pioneers. Then, ENMU split a Sunday series with Midwestern State, winning 8-7 and falling 11-1 (5 Inn.).

SCOUTING THE HOUNDS

Overall this season, the Greyhounds sport a 13-17 record and have won three of its last four games. As a team, ENMU hold a .227 batting average, scoring 138 runs from 211 hits. Additionally, the offense carries a .321 on base percentage and has recorded 119 RBIs this campaign. In the circle, the Hounds hold an ERA of 5.97 with 218 strikeouts, and an opposing batting average of .322.

Lisette Urquidez is the team leader in batting average at .333, leading the group in hits (37), runs scored (21), RBIs (35), and total bases (71). Azalea Martinez also hits over .300, with a .313 average at the plate and totaling 31 hits. Sierra Wooley leads the team with 13 walks and gets on base at a rate of .329.

Brook Leger is the top twirler for ENMU, with a 3.25 ERA and a conference high 146 strikeouts. Leger holds nine of the Hounds wins this season, while Jennifer Gress has two wins, while Jordan Bowman and Taylor Harrison each have one win on the season in the circle.

SCOUTING THE COWGIRLS

The Cowgirls will face off against ENMU for the third time this season, with the first two meetings coming in the first week of the season. Eastern come away with both victories in the first meetings, 9-3 and 9-1 (5 Inn.). On the season, NMHU have a 7-35 standing and are currently on a 13-game losing streak.

This season, New Mexico Highlands have a .242 batting average at the plate, bringing in 118 runs with 242 hits. The Cowgirls have posted 112 RBI’s this season and get on base at .309%. Defensively, NMHU have an ERA of 7.23 with 142 strikeouts, and a opposing batting average of .366.

Individually, Heaven Medina has the top batting average at .298, and Camrynn Ziegler has the most hits with 34. Arianna Ramirez drives in the most runs with 20 so far this season. Nathalie Blattmann leads the team with a 4.94 ERA and hold five wins this season in the circle with eight complete games. Ramirez also standouts in the circle with a 7.48 ERA and one win on the season.
