PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico softball team travels to Texas A&M University-Kingsville and Texas A&M International University this weekend. The Greyhounds and Javelinas will play a Lone Star Conference doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 19. On Saturday, March 20, Eastern and TAMIU will play single non-conference game at 12 p.m. The Hounds and Dustdevils will then have a conference doubleheader at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 21.

LAST TIME OUT

The Greyhounds enter the weekend with an overall and conference record of 0-8. Last weekend they hosted Angelo State and Lubbock Christian.

On Monday, the Hounds were handed two losses by Lubbock Christian with scores of 10-0 and 14-3.

Leading the way offensively for the Hounds on Monday were Mikenzey Patterson and Abigail Dennis with two hits each.

In the circle, Tava Boone and Brook Leger were both credited with a loss.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

Texas A&M-Kingsville
The No. 15 nationally-ranked Javelinas enter the weekend with an overall record of 14-3 and 7-1 Lone Star Conference record. On Tuesday, Texas A&M-Kingsville faced then No. 1 Southern Arkansas and split a doubleheader. The Javelinas won the first game, 7-5, and dropped the second, 2-0.

Pacing the team offensively is Kayla Gonzales with a .545 batting average. She also leads the squad in hits (30), doubles (7), and RBI (28). Six other Javelinas had batting averages above .300.

In the circle, Saidi Castillo has a 7-0 record to go with a 1.54 ERA and team-leading 47 strikeouts.

Texas A&M International
The Dustdevils enter the weekend with a 10-7 overall record and 5-3 mark in conference play. Last Sunday, TAMIU picked up two wins over Cameron by scores of 12-8 and 14-8. The Dustdevils will face No. 18 West Texas A&M on Friday before clashing with the Hounds.

Darrian Smith leads the team in batting average (.380), doubles (6), home runs (4), and RBI (16). The trio of Smith, Victoria Gonzalez, and Morgan Chavarria have all recorded 19 hits apiece.

Erika Cortez has a team-low 2.78 ERA with 82 strikeouts and a 5-4 record in 58 innings pitched. Chelsea Salinas has also put in some quality innings with a 2-0 record and 12 strikeouts in 18.2 innings of work.
