4/11/2021 | Softball | Box Score 1 | Box Score 2LAWTON, Okla. – The Eastern New Mexico softball team finished out a weekend road trip in Oklahoma with a doubleheader at Cameron University on Sunday afternoon. The Greyhounds (0-17, 0-16 LSC) fell to the Aggies (20-12, 11-9 LSC) by scores of 17-1 and 10-0.

GAME ONE: CU 17, ENMU 1 (5 INNINGS)

The Aggies quickly took the 3-0 lead in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run homer from Brenna Busby. Cameron continued to build upon that lead with six runs in the second frame.

In the bottom of the third, Busby and Kylie French hit solo home runs while Mikayla Richmond had a two-run homer to make it a 15-0 game. Cameron tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning.

Eastern’s Azalea Martinez broke Aggie pitcher, Bethany Hines’ perfect game attempt with a two-out solo home run to left field. Cameron managed to get the last out to end the game and secure the 17-1 victory.

Martinez’s homer was the Greyhounds’ lone hit of the game.

In the circle, Jordan Bowman got the start and was credited with the loss in two innings of work. Tava Boone finished out the game and allowed five hit

s with one strikeout.

GAME TWO: CU 10, ENMU 0 (5 INNINGS)

Cameron took an early lead once again in the second game of the day with two runs in the bottom of the first.

The Aggies saw five runs cross in the second inning, two in the third, and one in the fourth to make it a 10-0 game which would be the final score.

Eastern saw one hit from Aylene Lucero, while Jokaira Paredes and Bailey Johnson got on base with walks.

Johnson made her first appearance in the circle for the Greyhounds and was credited with the loss. Brook Leger came in and finished the game in relief.

Eastern New Mexico is back in action on Friday, April 16 for a 2 p.m. conference doubleheader at Texas Woman’s University.
