PORTALES, N.M. – Head Volleyball Coach, Sia Poyer, is a recipient of the 2022 President’s Spirit of Eastern Awards, as announced at the 2022 President’s Spirit of Eastern Awards and Years of Service Awards ceremony. The yearly award is given to Eastern New Mexico employee’s that emanate the true spirit of Eastern New Mexico.Poyer has been the head volleyball coach for the Greyhounds for the past eight season’s and started his coaching career with the Greyhounds as an assistant coach for 14 seasons beginning in 1990.

To qualify to the President’s Spirit Award, an employee must support ENMU’s Teaching-Learning Mission, have campus community spirit, display hard work, care about the institution, show whole student life commitment, and a demonstrated track record at ENMU. Nominee’s are put forward by their peers.

In eight years with the Greyhounds, Poyer has accounted for 81 wins with and has qualified for the LSC Postseason Tournament seven times. Poyer has guided several student-athletes to all-conference honors including individual honors such as Offensive Player of the Year, Libero of the Year, and Freshman of the Year Honors.
