Zach Shank batted two-for-three with two runs batted in as the Eastern New Mexico University baseball team (3-2) pounded out 13 hits in its home opener. Trailing by three runs entering the ninth inning, the Greyhound managed to bring the game-tying run to the plate, but dropped an 8-6 heartbreaker to Oklahoma Panhandle (4-3).

Eastern faced a 4-1 deficit but used a big sixth inning to pull even
Malcolm Boehm, pinch-hitter Paul Tapia and Chris Padilla all doubled to open the inning and pull ENMU within a single run
Shank followed with a game-tying single to centerfield
Andrew Stubbs tripled to center field one out into the ENMU seventh and scored on Boehm’s sacrifice fly to give ENMU a 5-4 lead
The lead stood until a two-out Greyhound error allowed the Aggies to plate four runs in the eighth inning
ENMU brought the tying run to the plate in both the eighth and ninth innings, but OPSU held on for the win
