PORTALES, NM — On Tuesday afternoon, the NCAA released its list of competitors for next weekend’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship meet. Eastern New Mexico University are prepared for the event in Bradenton Florida, with seven athletes qualified to participate in six events.
The NCAA Championship Meet is set to start next Thursday, and conclude on Saturday. University of Tampa will host the event at IMG Academy.
Leading the way for the Hounds is the men’s 4x100m relay team. The quartet of Jacques Hall, Marcus Parker, Avery Rasher and Julian Coronado will enter the event as the top seed. That group includes three of the four runners (Rasher, Hall, and Coronado), that placed seventh at last year’s championship and earned All-American status.
Parker (4th seed) and Coronado (20th seed) also have qualified to compete in the 100m dash, while Parker also is the second seed in the 200m dash. Augustus Swanson will be the ninth-seeded runner in the 400m hurdles.
For the women’s team, Melina Gryschka will participate in the 3,000m steeplechase as the 13th seed. Alexis Aguirre reached the championship meet in the javelin toss and will compete as the 18th seed.
