Clovis, NM – Ninth Judicial District Attorney Quentin Ray announced today that the Honorable Ben Cross has sentenced 19-year-old Sergio Silguero to 18 months in the Department of Corrections, with an additional 3 years added for brandishing a firearm in public during the commission of a felony.

The incident occurred at a local Walmart, where Silguero began harassing a couple at the checkout stand. Upon exiting the store, the couple was confronted again when Silguero ran to a vehicle, retrieved a pistol, and pointed it at them as they were getting into their car.

“This sentence reflects our commitment to ensuring the safety of our community,” said District Attorney Quentin Ray. “Brandishing a firearm in public and threatening innocent individuals will not be tolerated. We appreciate the diligence of law enforcement and the judicial system in holding Mr. Silguero accountable for his actions.”

The case was prosecuted by Special Prosecutor Brett Carter, while Silguero was represented by Blake Dugger of Hobbs, NM.
