On Friday, March 12 at 7 pm, the Portales Rams hosted Dexter at Greyhound Stadium for a game following the honoring of the PHS Seniors.

The momentum switched to Portales early in the game with an interception by WR Josh Reyes, which led to a touchdown a couple plays after. Other big plays in the first quarter included a 21-yard touchdown pass by QB Baylor Diaz to WR Jude Urioste, a 65-yard touchdown pass by QB Baylor Diaz to WR Dason Davis and a forced fumble by linebacker Anthony Montoya, which was picked up by the Rams’ MLB Luciano Rodriguez who then ran it in for a touchdown. The score at the end of 1 was 19-0.

In the 2nd quarter, Brandon Blidi forced another fumble which was recovered by the Rams’ NG Braydon Mignard. The Rams continued dominating the remainder of the game.

After 4 dominating quarters for both the defense and the offense, the Rams held Dexter to only one touchdown, and no extra point. Portales won with a final score of 34-6.

The long break between seasons due to COVID-19 restrictions hasn’t put a damper on the 3A powerhouse Portales is known to be. The Rams are now 2-0 for the short season.

The top 3 offensive players were QB Baylor Diaz, WR Dason Davis and RB Ethan Conrow.
