The Portales Rams started their 2021 football season off with a game against Hope Christian, out of Albuquerque. The Rams traveled to the game, which was schedule for Saturday, August 21. Kickoff was at 5 PM.

The Hope Christian Huskies proved to be a tough opponent for Portales from the first play of the game. That same theme continued until the final buzzer. In fact, at halftime, the Huskies were ahead 14-0.

By the end of the game, the Rams were unable to overcome the early deficit, leaving them with a final score of 28-14. According to Jerrold Taylor, a Huskies reporter, Portales had a lot of turnovers, which led to a loss for the start of their season.

Their next game is scheduled for Friday, September 3 at 7 PM at Greyhound Stadium, where the Rams will host West Las Vegas High.
