Sandra Pettus Obituary

Sandra Pettus was born Aug. 15, 1950 in Owensboro, KY to the home of Rosa Lee (Frantz) and Edward Joseph Pettus and died early Mon. morning, Mar. 24, 2025 in Lubbock, TX at the age of 74.

The family came to the Floyd area in 1957.  Sandra attended the Floyd Schools until she was in high school when she began attending Portales High School.  Once she was no longer in school, she moved a number of times before returning to Portales in 1980 to make her home.  At different times she worked in sales at Alco and SOS.  She had also been employed as a housekeeper at the Portales Inn.  Her last job was in receiving at Super Save Grocery.

Ms. Pettus enjoyed reading and watching television.  She was particularly fond of Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons.  Her favorite way to pass the time was playing with her great-granddaughters.  In addition, she remained very close with her sisters, to whom she had daily telephone conversations.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Billy Duar of Portales; three grandchildren, Tiffany (Kyle) Kia, Tyler Knowles and Tiana Knowles; two great-granddaughters, Jaeleigh and Kynlee Kia; four sisters, Carol Rogers and Sally Ann Salsbury both of Winnsboro, TX, Jeanette Hicks of Hobbs, NM and Jackie LeClear of Port St. Lucy, FL.  She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Charles, Ed and James Pettus and a sister, Lorraine White.
