Sophomore relief pitcher Liam Sabiston was named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday.

Sabiston picked up his first win of the season in Eastern’s 6-5 come-from-behind, walk-off victory over Cameron in the first game of the doubleheader on Saturday.

Sabiston pitched four shutout innings out of the pen, giving up a .077 batting average on one hit and three walks while striking out four. Sabiston came in during the fourth inning after the Aggies established a 5-1 lead in the inning and got two more on with nobody out. Sabiston was able to record three straight outs, including an out at the plate to get the Hounds out of a jam.

Sabiston was able to prevent the Aggies from adding any sort of insurance runs, giving the ENMU bats a chance to rally over the final three innings to pull out the win on a walk-off sacrifice fly by Malcolm Boehm to right field to score Luidinson Hidalgo.

With the win, the Hounds took two out of three games in the series after getting an 11-8 win over Cameron on Friday night before dropping the final game of the series by a score of 13-12.

The Hounds will return to the road to take on Tarleton State in a four game non-conference series this weekend. Eastern will open the slate on Friday at 3 p.m. before playing a doubleheader with the Texans on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and will wrap up the series on Sunday with a 1 p.m. first pitch.
