1. Remind us why you wanted to run for office?

I wanted to make a positive change for Portales and I wasn’t happy with some of the past decisions that were being made for the city.

2. What is your first order of business?

Water.

I would like for the city to end this stage 3 restriction and I would like for the city to end its restriction of water to the water co-op. I have family and organizations I care about on both sides and they have been affected in a negative way due to the water pressure being turned down. I would also like to figure out with clarity what is going on in our well field and find solutions that would make the best and most effective change  to help our peak demands for the summer coming up. I look forward to hearing from the engineering firm the city hired. The projected date for that report to be done will be in April. I hope to analyze all the information from that report so we can discuss how to proceed and hopefully find some proactive solutions for Portales to grow and meet the demands of the city.

3. If you had to list your top five priorities in order of importance – What would they be?

Water & Water Reuse System

Roads

Trash

Budget & Finances

Animal Control

4. What do you hope to accomplish during your term?

I hope to challenge people, ask questions, and narrow our city’s focus in the near future to tackle the top 5 issues.

I want to finish answering your question with a quote.

“You can accomplish any goal you set for yourself, as long as the goal is clear and you persist long enough.”

– Brian Tracy –

5. What do you think will be the most challenging part of the office?

Working with a panel and government is not as efficient as the private sector. I’m going to have to find a balance of being patient and at the same time trying to hold people accountable with the urgency to make positive changes.

6. What do you think will be the most fun?

Having a vote to make the changes  that we so desperately need. Learning about how our city government works and serving on a council that makes decisions that  impact so much of our city.
