Funeral services for Ross C. Greathouse, 56, of Portales will be held at 10:00 AM, Wed., April 5, 2017 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. David McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Richard Hardin, Lonnie Berry, Bill Strong, Jerome Clemmons, Roy Kiker and Mike Nuckols serving as pallbearers. Ross C. Greathouse was born June 6, 1960 in Portales to the home of Betty Jo (Toliver) and Jack Aldon Greathouse, and died Mar. 30, 2017 at his home in Portales. He was a 1978 graduate of Portales High School. After high school, Ross worked at Safeway as a clerk, and stocking shelves. He attained an Associate Degree in Agriculture from E. N. M. U. For a period of time he worked in eastern Colorado in an animal husbandry operation. After returning to this area, he took care of the two family ranches in Floyd and Elida. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church.
Ross enjoyed doing yard work. He was an accomplished cook, and loved to watch Rachel Ray shows on the cooking channel. Ross loved to be outdoors, going hunting, collecting rattle snake rattles and arrowheads. He also enjoyed going dancing.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Greathouse of Portales; a brother, Dan Greathouse of Portales; three adopted sisters, Regina Harless, Krystal McBride and Dina Cox all of Portales; two nieces, Reagan Ford and Sabrina Melendez; and a first cousin Dee Ann Toliver and husband, Bill McNicholas. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Greathouse, who died Sept. 2, 2010.
