Rose Dunn Obituary

Rose Ellen Dunn passed away peacefully at home on June 6th, 2024. She was born in Clovis NM and raised in rural Curry County, NM. Daughter of Hoyt and Joy Pattison, she was the eldest of four children: Roger Cecil Pattison, Melinda Joy Pattison (Aramis), and Will Pattison. Her parents are deceased, as well as her grandparents OE and Luciester Pattison of Curry County and CS and Annie Patton Bumgarner of North Carolina.

After graduating from Clovis High School (1973), RoseEllen earned a BA from ENMU in Elementary Education. Following her marriage to Lennis in October 1976, she began her 32 years of employment with Clovis Municipal Schools. Rose Ellen earned her MS from ENMU in 1991 as she continued to teach in the elementary classroom. She retired from CMS in 2010. Then she taught at Clovis Christian Schools until 2017.

RoseEllen is survived by her sister and two brothers, their children, as well as many cousins on both sides of her family, her husband Lennis Gene Dunn and their three children: Tristan Giles Dunn, Tyler Anne Dunn (Dan), William Helmick Dunn (Linda) and six grandchildren: Savannah Rose Dunn, Tristan Garrett Dunn, Atticus Murphy Dunn, Liam Giles Dunn, Kre McKailin Dunn, and Ruby Amelia Dunn.

During her early years of teaching, she and Lennis raised their three children in Clovis.  They were involved in parent organizations because their children participated in youth sports activities such as basketball, softball, and soccer. The family were active members of First United Methodist Church as well. RoseEllen was also a member of P.E.O. Chapter AY from 1981 until her death.

After retiring from Clovis Municipal Schools, Rose Ellen contracted with bby publications @ UWA in Alabama as an educational mathematics consultant. She met many elementary teachers during her work in school districts across the United States and also co-authored bby handbooks for elementary teachers. Upon retirement from Clovis Christian Schools she substituted in the Clovis Schools and tutored elementary students.
