The Portales Lady Rams made the long haul to Albuquerque this morning (Tuesday, March 12) to face NMAA 4A Seed #2, Kirtland Central, in the 2nd round of the state tournament.

After a great showing for Lady Rams against Artesia last week, being the only competitor for Roosevelt County to move forward into the 2nd round, which is taking place in Albuquerque, there were high hopes for a good game against KCHS.

Portales girls were trailing at half, 35-19, and went into the locker room with a fairly large deficit to overcome. After a tough 2nd half, the Lady Rams couldn’t manage to make a comeback, and lost with a final score of 71-39.

The loss knocked Portales girls out of the tournament, and ended their season. Their final record is 16-12 this season, and 5-1 in district.
