ROOSEVELT COUNTY MANAGER APPOINTED TO NEW MEXICO JUDICIAL PERFORMANCE EVALUATION COMMISSION
SANTA FE–The New Mexico Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission (NMJPEC) has appointed Amber Hamilton of Portales, who is the Roosevelt County Manager, as its newest member.
Hamilton has served as Roosevelt County Manager since 2014, managing the daily operations of the County at the direction of the Board of County Commissioners.
She previously served as director of marketing, public relations and hospitality for Roosevelt General Hospital and administrated the Hospital’s Arise Sexual Assault Services program.
Hamilton is a Roosevelt County native and third-generation agriculturist. Her family heritage includes dry-land farming, ranching and dairy cattle operations, and she is passionate about agriculture. She is active in the International Association of City/County Managers, Roosevelt County Crime Stoppers, Portales Woman’s Club, P.E.O., and many other organizations.
Hamilton is a graduate of Eastern New Mexico University and holds a Master of Arts in Communications as well as a Bachelor of Science in Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations, magna cum laude.
NMJPEC was established by the Supreme Court of New Mexico in 1997 as a volunteer, nonpartisan commission to improve the performance of New Mexico’s judges and provide useful, credible information to voters on judges standing for retention in general elections. Under state law, judges standing for retention must receive 57 percent voter approval to remain on the bench.
The New Mexico Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission is comprised of 15 individuals – seven lawyers and eight non-lawyers – who are appointed by the Supreme Court to staggered terms.
Members are selected from nominations made by the Governor, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Speaker of the House, Senate President Pro Tempore, House Minority Leader, Senate Minority Leader and President of the State Bar.
