Portales, NM: The Roosevelt County Cooperative Extension Service and 4-H will be hosting a 4-H Family Fun Night on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 5:00p.m. This free event is open to all 4-H families and those that are interested in joining the program.

This event will feature activities for youth of all ages. From arts and crafts to STEM projects and demonstrations, the Family Fun Night will feature some of the many, varied projects that 4-H has to offer. Some scheduled activities will be building a solar car, robotics, crafts to enter into the fair, horticulture and more.

4-H Agent, Ryan Craig, states that the goal of this event is, “For Roosevelt county 4-H youth to build relationships among members, and to gain leadership and overall knowledge of the Roosevelt county 4-H program.”

Roosevelt County 4-H members will also be completing a community service project at the event as well. Throughout the month of April, Roosevelt County 4-H members will be collecting items to create “encouragement backpacks” for youth in the foster system. Event participants will come together to help pack these bags and so that they can be delivered to children in need.

Furthermore, Craig continued that, “This family fun night will give our 4-H youth the opportunity to participate in a community service project to teach them about leadership, and to be more civically minded 4-H members.”

Smoked brisket and pulled pork sandwiches will be provided by the Roosevelt 4-H County Council.

The Roosevelt County 4-H program is dedicated to providing services for youth within our local area. If anyone would like more information on how to become involved with the 4-H program, or more information about this event, call the Roosevelt County Extension Office at (575) 356-4417.
