PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico University rodeo team travels to Borger, Texas, this weekend for the Frank Phillips College Rodeo. The rodeo begins on Thursday and concludes on Saturday.
The ENMU women’s team is coming off a sixth place finish at the Vernon College Rodeo two weeks ago. Emily Logan won the breakaway roping while Laney Elkins split first in the goat tying. Celie Vick and Megan Burbidge both placed first in the first go of the goat tying, but failed to place in the short go or the average in Vernon.
On the men’s side, Wesley Gudgell took home the All-Around award after winning the short go and the average in the steer wrestling. Additionally, he and his broth Jacob Gudgell were fight in the team roping. Wesley was the sole point getter for the men’s team that finished fifth among 17 teams.
