The Eastern New Mexico rodeo program completed its first rodeo of the spring season, with several notable performances this past weekend at the Odessa College Rodeo.

Madelyn Schauer picked up a 1st place finish in the goat tying event. Schauer posted the third best time in the long round of competition with 7.2 seconds, and followed that performance in the short round with the same time, 7.2 seconds (fastest time in the short round). Overall, Schauer posted an average of 14.4 seconds to take 1st place with 160 points.

Schauer wasn’t the only Greyhound that excelled in goat tying, as Caitlin Kreider took home second place. After posting finishing tied for seventh in the long round with a time of 7.5 seconds, Kreider cut their time to 7.6 seconds in the short round which tied for second. Collectively, Kreider sported a time of 15.1 seconds in the average to finish in 2nd place overall with 110 points.

Molly Griffin had a great performance in breakaway roping qualifying for the short. Griffin qualified for the short round with a time of 2.7 seconds, taking a tie for seventh in the long round.

Eastern New Mexico Rodeo head to their next rodeo a month from now at the Ranger College Rodeo in Stillwater, Texas. The rodeo will start on March 24th and conclude on March 26th at the Nolan County Coliseum.
