Friday the 13th brought a nightmare for the Portales Rams in the form of a stacked Goddard football team. With the Rams going into the game 3-0, fans were excited for the possibility of another win to continue their short, but perfect season record.
Kickoff was at 7 pm with Portales receiving the ball first, but quickly turned it over to the Rockets who tacked on the first touchdown to the scoreboard. Portales’ Kellen Hightower (#3) added 6 to the score for the Rams though with a rushing touchdown shortly after!
The momentum shifted to Goddard, and stayed that way the remainder of the game. The two teams went into halftime with a score of 21-12. Portales failed to score again the remainder of the game, as the Rockets continued adding to their score.
The Rams lost with a final score of 44-12 with a record of 3-1. Portales will host St. Pius X from Albuquerque next week, September 20 at 7 pm.
