Robert’s TV and Appliance, owned and operated by Robert Encinas, has been serving Portales and the surrounding areas since 1982. A retail furniture, appliance, and electronics store, the location offers services including TV and video, audio, cooking, refrigerators, dishwashers, laundry, food disposals, mattresses, and adjustable beds. Located at 420 South Avenue C in Portales, the location boasts brand names such as Frigidaire, KitchenAid, Maytag, Whirlpool, and Samsung, just to name a few. Meanwhile, Encinas says he also offers at-home services for items sold in his store.
A man who has spent his lifetime in the area, Encinas graduated from ENMU, and served in the military before opening Robert’s TV and Appliance. His is a local business which has been around for many years and has built a strong reputation on customer satisfaction and loyalty. Although he refers to his business as a “small mom and pop” store, returning customers and newcomers are sure to leave satisfied with name brand items and the very best in customer service. Encinas’ staff consists of himself and two other employees, of whom he receives wonderful feedback. “I’m always getting compliments on my staff,” he says, “they are very good”.
Robert’s TV and Appliance serves Roosevelt County for the most part, but according to the owner, business from Clovis and other surrounding areas has ramped up within the last year, partly because of bigger named stores going out of business, such as Sears. “I know we can’t compete with the big-name stores,” Encinas shares, “but that’s okay because what’s important to me is the customers I have, the ones who have come back here their whole lives. They care about the business and I care about them, and take care of them.” And in asking about serving a small community like Portales, Encinas says he wouldn’t have it any other way. “It’s nice because everyone knows me and I know everyone,” he shares.
