Roberta Lee Stone, known to family and friends as “Bobbie,” was born April 4, 1929 in Pasadena, CA, and died early on the morning of February 21, 2024 in Clovis, NM.  At the age of two years she moved to Scottsdale, AZ to make her home with her grandparents.  She graduated from high school in Scottsdale in 1947, and on May 5, 1948,  she was married to Robert F. Stone.  The couple had two children, a son and a daughter.  Her husband served as a bank president, and consequently, Mrs. Stone had numerous social obligations.  In addition, she established The Belfry, which was a home gift and furnishings store selling fine china and crystal among other things.  Mrs. Stone operated the store for 25 years.  She was an animal lover, and for several years raised quarter horses.  She also loved dogs, and through the years had owned a variety of breeds, including a Border Collie, a Basset Hound, a Chihuahua and a Corgi.  Watching football was a favorite for her, and she particularly enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49’ers.

She was also a philanthropist, and established a foundation to raise money to care for sick children.  She was a longtime member of the Paradise Valley Methodist Church in Scottsdale, and contributed the bells for the bell choir.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brett and Angie Stone of Scottsdale, AZ; her daughter, Debra Stone of Portales; her two grandchildren, Kayce Roberts of San Antonio, TX and Matthew Nance of Portales; and a great-granddaughter, Camila Nance.  She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, as well as by her beloved husband, Robert, who died May 22, 2018 after a few days more than 71 years.
