Robert Garcia June 17, 1947 ~ January 4, 2025 (age 77)

A rosary for Robert Garcia, 77, of Portales, will be recited at 9:00 A.M., Thursday, January 9, 2025, at St Helen Catholic Church.  Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 9, 2025, at St Helen Catholic Church with Fr. Sotero Sena officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Antonio Salaz, Sid Ortega, Anthony G. Ortega, Michael Lucero, Joseph Ornelas and Alvan Elvik serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Villanueva, Manuel Gallegos, Jake Lopez, Jimmy Lucero and Adam Gutierrez.

Robert Garcia was born on June 17, 1947 in El Cerrito, NM to the home of Miguel Garcia and Irene Garcia. At a young age, Robert moved to Portales to work for a few years in construction at Cannon AirForce Base. During this time, he married Maryann Apodoca. They had two sons Bobby Garcia and Scott Garcia. In 1972, he started his own business Garcia’s Concrete. Robert was known for his quality of work and service. He built their home and went on to build a home for each of his sons.

Robert had a long life passion for classic cars. He enjoyed restoring his old cars. While detailing his classic cars this influenced his grandsons. It was his pride and joy to talk about and show his cars to everyone. He showed his cars at various car shows and won many awards and trophies.
Along with his love of cars, he also kept busy with his yard work. He was meticulous in
everything he did in his yards which was recognized by the city in winning Yard of the Month several times.

Robert was not a fan of cell phones, but if anyone wanted to reach him they could always find him at McDonalds having coffee with his friends.

Robert Garcia is survived by his wife Maryann Garcia; his sons, Bobby Garcia (wife Dolores) and Scott Garcia; two grandsons Andrew Garcia (wife Belle), Seth Garcia (wife Cassidy); Four great-grandchildren, Davian, Leila, Athena, and Wren Garcia; his siblings, David Garcia (wife Marcella), Raymond Garcia (wife Lupe), Marcella Martinez (husband Sal), Mabel Vigil, Steve Garcia, M. Sean Garcia, Patrick Garcia.

He was preceded in death by his parents Miguel Garcia and Irene Garcia, his siblings; Erlinda Dean, Nash Garcia, Geneva Thomas.
