This past Friday was Coach Crowley’s last day at Portales High.  In her 25 years of coaching and teaching, she has coached volleyball, basketball, track and softball; with the last 17 years focused on softball.  Coach Crowley has taught English the entire time,  at one point or another teaching either 9th, 10th, 11th, or  12th grade English.

When asked why she is now retiring, Coach Crowley responded, “I love the kids and I love my peers but not the testing and all the constant requirements from the State.  We spend more time testing than teaching”.   ” I just did not want to do it anymore”.  When asked what is next, Coach Crowley said,  ” While we were talking, I just realized that 40 years of my life have been spent in the Portales Municipal School Systems, either as a student or a teacher and a coach!  What is next, I plan on playing a whole lot of golf and just waiting on the God to let me know what is next”.

One thing is for sure, the halls of PHS will not be the same with out her smiling face next year!  We will miss you Coach Crowley!
