Eastern New Mexico sophomore Mazin Richards has been named a Second Team Preseason All-American by Lindy’s Sports college football preview magazine.

Richards is one of just four Lone Star Conference representatives recognized on either of the two Preseason All-American teams and is the lone defensive lineman from the league. The defensive end from Burleson, Texas led the LSC with 12.5 sacks last season as a true freshman and was named a Don Hansen All-Super Region Four Third Team selection for his efforts.

Richards was vital in the Hound’s success in route to a record of 8-4 and the program’s first ever Division II postseason win in the 2019 Heritage Bowl with a 20-13 win over Southern Arkansas. He recorded four multi-sack efforts throughout the season including a 3.5 sack performance in the Hound’s 20-17 win over no. 21 Angelo State on Nov. 9.

Richards produced 2.5 sacks in the Heritage Bowl win over Southern Arkansas and finished the season with a total of 14.5 tackles for a loss, ranking seventh in the LSC. He was named a Second Team All-LSC selection at season’s end and will be one of eight Greyhounds returning this fall who received postseason recognition in 2019.
