Richard Doyle Tivis was born Dec. 7, 1978 in Portales to the home of Lewetta (Moore) and Roy Tivis, and died on the morning of Sept. 13, 2021 in Mansfield, TX. Richard grew up in Portales and graduated from Portales High School in 1997. As a boy he played Little League Soccer. Richard worked for Eastern New Mexico University from the time of his graduation until 2017, when he moved to Midlothian, TX. On Dec. 12, 2003 in Portales, he was married to Kristin Lillis. He and his wife had three daughters.
After moving to Midlothian, he and another man bought houses to make improvements to and then resell. Richard loved music, and singing with his girls. He enjoyed going fishing and spending time with his family, and he just liked to do whatever his wife and daughters wanted to do. Richard was always the loudest voice cheering for his daughters in whatever they were involved in. His greatest joy came from making others happy, and encouraging them to live better lives.
He is survived by Kristin, his wife of almost 18 years of their home; his three daughters, Chloe, Georgia and Nora Tivis all of the home; his parents, Lewetta and Roy Tivis of Portales and his brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Nicole Tivis of Portales. He was preceded in death by all four of his grandparents, and by his mother-in-law, Zilpha Lillis.
